Philadelphia Eagles fans may have to wait a long eight months for the NFL to return after they finished off the 2024 season with a dominant Super Bowl LIX victory.
The Eagles went into the latest Super Bowl as supposed underdogs, despite going 14-3 and having an impressive playoff run - where they scored 55 points in the NFC Championship game to Washington Commanders' 23.
Many fans and analysts alike couldn't see a way past Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs, as the AFC West team geared up to try and achieve a historic three-peat at Super Bowl LIX. But despite the majority backing the Chiefs - including US President Donald Trump - the Eagles showed up and blew everyone's expectations out of the water.
The NFC East team, led by Jalen Hurts, drove the dagger into the Chiefs, going 34-0 before Mahomes had even registered a score on the board. By the middle of the fourth quarter, the Eagles were up 40-6 and looked certain to win their second-ever Lombardi down in New Orleans.
The game finished 40-22, and while this score looked more respectable to the rookie viewer, many NFL fans were stunned by the sheer dominance that ensued on the field from the Eagles. The joy may not be over yet for the Eagles, however, as the current reigning champions will likely aim to create a dynasty with the players they have - and the ones they will attract thanks to this win.
Here, Mirror US Football has detailed all the ways that the Eagles offseason could work in order to give them the perfect start to their 2025 campaign, including one important figure signing on for the future.
Nick Sirianni commits future to the Eagles
Nick Sirianni's contract runs through the 2025 season - but if the NFL is anything to go by, he is due a big payday in the near future. Earlier in February, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie hinted that talks on the new deal will begin soon as he said: "His future is going to be great. We never talk about contracts publicly in 30 years, so I’m not going to start now, but he’s great."

Currently, Sirianni is on a five-year, $35 million contract that will expire by the end of this upcoming season. The deal he is on now ranks him 11th out of all the head coaches in the NFL - and this will likely change significantly.
With his recent success, this extension is set to be pretty hefty, as NFL Network star Tom Pelissero claimed that $16M annually will be the "base line" for Sirianni in the future.
The head coach himself hasn't made any public comment on what he is expecting to receive in terms of an extension, but Eagles fans will be made even more delighted this offseason if the team's hierarchy can tie down the 43-year-old for the years to come.
Super Bowl standout signs new contract
One thing that the Eagles have to focus on this offseason is retaining the talent they already have in the building. While rookies like Cooper DeJean showed exactly why the NFC East team selected them in the Super Bowl, there were other stand-out stars during the game that could leave for nothing come the summer.
In particular, linebacker Josh Sweat had an impressive performance during the Super Bowl, and throughout the regular season as well. In 2024, Sweat notched up 41 total tackles and eight sacks, a career-best for the 27-year-old.

In Super Bowl LIX, the linebacker made six tackles and 2.5 sacks in a performance that gained shouts for the MVP of the entire game. His contract is up now with the Eagles, and they will need to do their best to keep Sweat in the building or risk losing him to free agency in March.
He has openly stated that he'd like to play where he feels the most comfortable, which many could assume is with the Eagles. The linebacker told the Philadelphia Enquirer: "Money's important, sure, but I want to be in the right situation. I don't know what it looks like for me now, but I'm happy."
With a salary cap space of $24.5M - which will only increase as the weeks go by - the Eagles have the wiggle room to restructure contracts and keep big-time players like Sweat in the building.
If the linebacker does choose to stay in Philadelphia, he could continue his rich vein of form with the team who are flying highest in the NFL right now.
Perfect 10 in the NFL Draft

The NFL Draft is a place that many will assume the Eagles will fall short in, given their low selection placements thanks to a successful 2024 season. However, it is not all doom and gloom for Sirianni, as he already has a great base of players to add to in 2025 - the only discussion to be had is how to refine it.
In this year's Draft, the Eagles have the final pick in the first round - thanks to their Super Bowl LIX win - and picks in each of the second, third and fourth rounds, plus three in the fifth round as well. With seven selections at their disposal, there is opportunity for the Eagles to make some headway on adding talent to their roster, starting with their number one ranked defense.
One player that has been tipped to join the reigning champions is Boston College edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku, who could be the replacement for Sweat if he chooses to test the free agency market.
Ezeiruaku has been reported by PFF as one of the best pass-rushers in the nation, and a lot of the Eagles' defensive victories come from their solid rushing of the quarterback.

As well as this, the Eagles will do their best to not allow any other star players to leak through to free agency, including linebacker Zack Baun. The 28-year-old signed a one-year deal during last year's offseason and has proved his worth in the team plenty of times this year.
With a nomination for Defensive Player of the Year under his belt, and one of his best years tackle-wise, the Eagles will be eager to negotiate a long-term contract for the primetime player.
So, with low Draft picks and free agency looming, Sirianni and his recruitment staff will have to be smart in order to keep the good times rolling in Philadelphia.
