Who exactly did the New York Rangers offer to the Vancouver Canucks for J.T. Miller?
When Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the Rangers and Canucks were progressing on a trade before it ultimately fell through, the specifics of the deal were not mentioned.
Since then, conflicting reports have emerged on who was included in that trade proposal and why it did not work out.
In Friedman’s latest report, he provided some insight into the framework of the nixed trade.
“Believe the New York offer was Filip Chytil, a first-rounder and a prospect,” Friedman wrote.
The Athletic reported one source confirmed that a disagreement on the protection structure of a first-round pick was a key hurdle.
Meanwhile, NHL insider Frank Seravalli believes there was pushback from the Rangers to take on Miller’s entire contract.
It’s unclear if the Rangers and Canucks have re-engaged in trade talks after failing to reach an agreement originally.
