NHL Insider Reveals Bold Prediction on Avalanche Offseason

The Colorado Avalanche fell short of winning another Stanley Cup this season, losing in the first round of the playoffs. The team pushed the Dallas Stars to seven games in the series, but ultimately couldn't finish the job.

With this outcome, the front office entered the offseason with the intent to add more talent to the roster. Colorado has a solid core group of players, but it has been a few years since the organization has truly contended for a title.

After winning the championship in the 2021-22 season, the Avalanche have fallen off a bit. But this offseason could be very different, even though the team hasn't done all that much so far.

According to NHL insider Chris Johnston, the Avalanche may still add to this team. During a recent segment on the Chris Johnston Show, Johnston predicted that Colorado was still going to be busy adding more pieces to this roster.

The front office has some work to do, especially after trading away star Mikko Rantanen. The team never replaced Rantanen, and it came back to hurt them in the postseason.

While it remains to be seen what the Avalanche will do throughout the remainder of the offseason, the team could look to add more defense. Colorado could use some help on the defensive side of the ice, especially with all the trade rumors around star Martin Nečas.

Colorado seems likely to hold onto Nečas at this point, but there are multiple interested teams. Either way, this Avalanche team still has work to do on the roster and if they enter the season with this current lineup, the likelihood of them contending is low.
