NFL News: Eagles do it again and sign former Saquon Barkley teammate from the Giants - suong

The Philadelphia Eagles are making moves once again in free agency, and this time, they have added another former New York Giants player to their roster. Following the signing of Saquon Barkley, the NFC East club has now brought in one of his former teammates from New York.

Last year, the Eagles made one of the most shocking signings in recent NFL history. With Saquon Barkley hitting free agency, the NFC East club wasted no time in securing the star running back to bolster their offense.

The past few years have been rough for the Giants. Not only did they make a questionable decision in extending Daniel Jones’ contract, but they also watched Barkley—one of their former first-round picks—leave and go on to win a Super Bowl with the Eagles.

After failing to offer Barkley a lucrative extension, the Giants lost him in free agency. The Eagles swooped in with an immediate offer, and the running back didn’t hesitate to accept, ultimately helping Philadelphia win the Vince Lombardi Trophy by season’s end.

No team wants to see its star players leave—especially to a division rival. The Giants had to endure that pain when Barkley chose the Eagles. Unfortunately for New York, he wouldn’t be the last to make that move. A year later, Philadelphia has done it againsigning yet another key player from their NFC East foe.

According to Jordan Schultz, the Eagles have agreed to terms with Adoree’ Jackson. The veteran cornerback spent the past four seasons with the Giants but saw his playing time decrease during the 2024 NFL season.

Jackson, a former first-round pick of the Titans, has had a solid career. At 29 years old, he now joins an already talented Eagles defense. Reports suggest that head coach Nick Sirianni specifically requested additional depth at the position, making Jackson the top available option.

Why did the Eagles sign Adoree’ Jackson?

Jackson joins a Philadelphia defense that is already stacked with talent. However, due to recent departures and injuries, Nick Sirianni pushed for reinforcements at cornerback.

Currently, Kelee Ringo is the only clear-cut option at right cornerback. While Jackson is projected as the second-choice left corner, he is versatile enough to play on either side of the field—one of the main reasons Sirianni prioritized his signing.
