Tom Brady may have taken his talents from the booth to the field, but he still has influence in what goes on across the NFL landscape.
And one team he specifically has some hold on is the Las Vegas Raiders.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated recently highlighted the influence that the former New England Patriots signal-caller wields.
"The smoking gun: Ben Johnson's candidacy," Breer wrote. "Johnson's initial plan was to take three interviews, with the Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars and Patriots. But Brady's sell job, through intermediaries, made the difference."
Brady currently owns five percent of the Raiders, purchasing his share of the team late last year. It's clear that the ownership has given him a far larger percent of the reins than that, though.
“This is Tom’s show now,” a source close to the Raiders organization said in an interview with the Review-Journal.
It has been said that Brady pushed for team owner Mark Davis to part ways with head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco. It was also not long ago that Davis had voiced just how much authority he wanted Brady to have.
And, at least for now, it borderline looks like it is Brady's way or the highway.
