FOX Sports television personality Nick Wright drew the ire of New England Patriots fans after suggesting a massive trade involving rookie quarterback Drake Maye.
If the season ended today, the Patriots would own the No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft. The popular opinion is that the team should trade the pick to another quarterback-needy team, accumulate more draft picks and use those picks to build around their young quarterback.
However, Wright suggested a scenario where the Patriots traded Maye for another top-five pick and used both picks to draft Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wideout Travis Hunter. He also threw in the idea of firing Jerod Mayo as head coach and replacing him with Deion Sanders.
Maye looks like a future superstar at the quarterback position, and that's rare to find at the NFL level. There's hope that Shedeur will excel at the next level as well, but the Patriots would be taking a major gamble if they went in that direction.
Here's what fans were saying about Wright's suggestion on social media:
No, it is totally insane actually.

If they can't win big games in college, why would you think they can win big games in the NFL on the worst team
