Calvin de Haan was a featured guest on the Cam and Strick Podcast. He was asked about his time in New York, specifically regarding his relationship with GM Chris Drury and how he related to other players in the locker room. The answer was surprising.![Calvin de Haan]()
After all of the negative talk in the media by players who have been traded or waived by the Rangers, we got a cold, ruthless picture of GM Chris Drury in our heads.
Calvin de Haan, a Rangers defenseman and pending UFA, was on the Cam & Strick Podcast, where he was asked about Chris Drury.
Like we thought, Drury has come off cold and callous in a lot of reports we've read, especially regarding stories of Barclay Goodrow and Jacob Trouba.
But de Haan was quick to neutralize any narratives of bad blood between the two. As de Haan mentioned how interactive he was with the players.
While not being a "friend" to players, he'd go out of his way to have conversations and learn more about Rangers players in the locker room.
De Haan also mentioned that the interview he gave was meant to be put out at the end of the season, instead of the day after. A clear betrayal of trust for de Haan, who likely wanted to ride out the season without causing a commotion.
With this answer, of course, there are two sides to a story, and often we don't get any other perspectives than disgruntled players, and players whom we've seen him trade. Albeit, Jacob Trouba is an outlier for the most part.
His ruthlessness still stands. Let's not peg these kind of actions to Drury alone, as we've seen what the Vegas Golden Knights did to Marc-Andre Fleury!
But even then, a coarse person who conducts business day in and day out could be a gentle and kind-hearted person.
Drury is human after all!
