New York Rangers to acquire star forward JJ Peterka: NHL Insider has just confirmed the rumor

The New York Rangers aren't in the running for JJ Peterka. While it's been reported that the Rangers and GM Chris Drury want to take a shot at acquiring the Buffalo Sabres RFA, Peterka's Agent Allan Walsh has been driving the misinformation regarding the "interest" the entire time.JJ Peterka

JJ Peterka is an RFA of the Buffalo Sabres, and as of right now, doesn't have a new contract with the team.
The New York Rangers were thought to be one of the teams interested in acquiring Peterka through trade or an offer sheet.
But according to reports on "X" it's unclear whether the team was truly interested in the 68-point forward or not.

Peterka would be a game changer in New York, but his cap hit might eat into the Rangers' plans of a retool.
It's been projected that he could earn up to $7-7.5 on his next deal, but that figure hasn't been confirmed. Of course, we won't know until July when free agency kicks into high gear for the NHL.
Although this is a bit surprising, considering the news from The Fourth Period gave us some insight into teams who were interested in acquiring the German forward.
TFP believes that GM Kevyn Adams wouldn't be interested in acquiring futures for JJ Peterka, which means it'd be an NHL trade most likely for him.
This could complicate things, as the Rangers don't have a lot of NHL assets to move that could get the deal done, arguably.
It might explain why the Rangers could be out of this deal.
Adams is not interested in moving Peterka or Byram for future assets, and any moves he completes involving any of his key pieces will result in immediate help and NHL talent coming to Buffalo.

The Peterka sweepstakes continues to evolve at an accelerating rate, and we'll have to keep track of this story as it develops.
Peterka's last deal paid him $855K over the last three years.
