JT Miller was busy golfing at the conclusion of the regular season, as he was trying to qualify for the US Open. After his busy schedule in his favorite sport to play part-time, Miller was asked about GM Chris Drury's hiring of Mike Sullivan as the team's new head coach.![JT Miller]()
Miller loves the sport of golf, and fortunately for him, since the season ended on time, he was able to take part in competing in a chance to play in the U.S. Open.
He would take part in the qualifiers at the Quicksilver Club in Midway, Pennsylvania, but wouldn't qualify due to a score of 4+.
Miller would be asked about the latest coaching hire by GM Chris Drury and the Rangers, a familiar face for the center, Mike Sullivan.
Sullivan recently coached Miller, Chris Kreider, Vinnie Trocheck, and Adam Fox during the Four Nations Face-Off in February.
«I've known [Sullivan] a long time. I came into the League with him. I have the utmost respect for him as a coach,» Miller said. «He's accomplished a lot in this league so when we get an opportunity like that to snag him and help us achieve our goals, he 's going to give us the best chance. I'm really happy.»
Both Kreider and Miller know him due to his tenure with the Rangers as an assistant coach, a role he held while both players were rookies in the league.
Sullivan was a part of the John Tortorella regime in New York and was present when the team selected Miller 15th overall in the 2011 NHL Draft.
It sounds like the familiarity between the players and coach may be of benefit, considering he's coming back to the Rangers as a more mature coach, with two Stanley Cups to his name.
While Miller is a mature two-way center in the NHL and has attained superstar status, but remains without a Stanley Cup.
Perhaps they can work together and change this in 2025?
