Settling into familiar territory, Miller feels lucky that everything has worked out for him and his family including now playing with his best friend Vincent Trocheck.
J.T. Miller on his return to the Rangers: "Tons of friends around the area. The welcoming I got coming back was astounding. Just so much support for my family and I feel crazy lucky everything worked out the way it did"
Miller's performance on the ice shows the positive change
Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette wasted no time in making a change in his lineup by adding Miller as the top line center. This move has helped the Rangers and Miller integrate back into the team that drafted him. The 31-year-old was drafted by the Rangers in 2011, first round 15th overall.
Since his arrival with the team, he has played five games, scoring two goals with two assists for four points and has played 18 minutes and two seconds of average ice time.
This move has also made a difference with other players including Rangers star Mika Zibanejad as his point production has ignited since the return of Miller with eight points in five games including two goals and six assists.
Trade deadline looming and decisions to come for Rangers
Rangers general manager Chris Drury has made several trades to his team throughout the season and many feel that the Rangers are in a state of calm as the team continues to reevaluate the talent and their plans for the March trade deadline.
The team currently sits three points out of a playoff spot and have witnessed many teams ahead of them on steady losing streaks.
If this trend continues and the Rangers can start to string wins together, they can find themselves right back in the playoffs which many felt was not possible less than two months ago.
The weeks working up to the trade deadline will be the decider on how Drury will handle his team and what path he wants to take for this season and next.
The Rangers are currently in a two week break along with the rest of the NHL as the 4 Nation faceoff continues with a pivotal game set for Saturday night between Canada and the United States.
