New York Rangers set to sign fan favourite enforcer Matt Rempe to massive contract extension?

Matt RempeThe New York Rangers have benefitted from Matt Rempe's improved play this season. As a regular on the fourth line, he's found chemistry with Adam Edstrom, and it appears the Rangers have rewarded him with a new contract.

If there was an award for the most improved player in the NHL, Matt Rempe should be in the running for it.
After being suspended for eight games after boarding Miro Heiskanen of the Dallas Stars, he's found a way to stay relevant in the NHL by playing clean.
He's done his best to stay out of trouble, and fists prepared only when he needs to defend a teammate. As a player who wanted to move his game into a style of play that emulates forward Adam Lowry, he seems to achieved yet despite his lack of production.
His teammates would cheer his arrival on the ice at practice, as USA Today reporter Vince Mercogliano gave us an insight into what happened at the morning skate.
While the team kept it hush, hush about what they were cheering about we suspect it could be due to the fact that GM Chris Drury has given the dutiful forward a contract extension.
While reports remain unconfirmed about a deal between Rempe and the front office we can speculate that'd be the major reason teammates would cheer him on.
He's played a total of 33 games this season with the Rangers, and scored 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) on the fourth-line, with a +5.
If he can continue to grow and develop his game the way it is now, he could become a valuable forward for the team in the future.
Maybe Adam Lowry is a realistic goal for himself he has set, and in doing so may have kept him in Rangers colors longer.
