The New York Rangers analyst Johnny Lazerus has taken fire on "X" over comments regarding a hypothetical trade between the Rangers and Dallas Stars for Jason Robertson. The deal involved forwards Will Cuylle and Jason Robertson.![Jason Robertson]()
The Dallas Stars, for all intents and purposes, could move Jason Robertson in order to gain some flexibility with their cap space. There have been rumors that 80-point forward Robertson will be moved after suffering through injury and missing multiple playoff games.
Later, he'd contribute 4 goals in the final three games against the Oilers in the WCF. Despite all of that, it appears he's not safe from being placed on the trade block.
An interesting trade surfaced for Jason Robertson, as there was a proposed deal for him which included Will Cuylle, Braden Schneider, and the 12th overall in this year's draft.
To which, Johnny Lazerus of The Daily Faceoff shot that one down, without even considering it.
The snarky remarks would soon begin afterwards.
Given that Johnny Lazerus has a bigger platform than we do, and with that kind of take, it's expected that he'd receive that kind of backlash. Is it warranted? No.
But the trade is certainly debatable, as Braden Schneider's spot in the Rangers lineup isn't set in stone, and Will Cuylle hasn't developed into the kind of 80-player Robertson is.
Considering, there are multiple trades out there that would see acquiring Robertson for multiple 1st-round picks, if this was the cost, I'd take it immediately.
