New York Rangers Forward Matt Rempe Joins Curious Case Of Training Partners This Offseason

The New York Rangers' Matt Rempe is an interesting guy. Not only has he grown out of his label as an "enforcer, his 2025 training during the postseason featured a who's who consisting of Brady Tkachuk and Trevor Zegras. The Calgary-born forward is changing it up, is it to refine his offensive game?Matt Rempe

The Calgary-born forward Matt Rempe has grown a lot as a player during the 2024-25 season. Not only would he learn his lessons after being suspended for a second time during his short NHL career, but he would also improve as a player.

For Rempe, he'd earn the rewards of eating humble pie, earning spots on TV ads, and generating a name for himself. This after being a purely punishing forward, and a "goon". Albeit not too dissimilar from Doug "The Thug" Glatt.

However, unlike Glatt, Rempe has longevity and an offensive upside.
But his choice of partners to train with this postseason has you pondering, how did he meet these guys? Obviously, Zegras, a US-born forward, is set to play for the Flyers this season, and Brady Tkachuk is a Tkachuk.
Where does Rempe fit in here?

The Rink Of Misfit NHL Players?

If we're hypothesizing that Rempe is attempting to improve his all-around game training with some of the best of the modern generation of NHL players.
Trevor Zegras was a lethal offensive weapon that was going to be a superstar in the Anaheim Ducks system, and will instead join Jamie Drysdale in Philadelphia.
While Brady Tkachuk is a solid two-way forward and the Senators' Captain.
There is information to be gleaned from both players, and for Rempe, he needs to be a sponge when it comes to training with either forward.
Rempe scored 8 points (5-3) in 42 games with the New York Rangers last season, and would spend a partial amount of the year in the AHL.
This season, under Mike Sullivan, he is poised to make an impact and once again put the spotlight on himself, as a fan favorite in New York.
