As the New York Rangers faced off against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night, in a must needed win for the Rangers as the Montreal Canadiens sit six points ahead of them for the final Wild Card Spot in the Eastern Conference.
However, things for the New York Rangers quickly went downhill, as the Lightnings managed to tally three goals just within the first period. Unsurprisingly, creating some major frustration for the struggling Rangers, which resulted in Alexis Lafreniere to receive a ten minute-misconduct.
After an icing-call, Lafreniere engaged NHL official Chris Rooney in a verbal altercation which quickly resulted in Lafreniere being tossed from the game as he received a 10-minute misconduct.

While we don't know what was said, Rooney was having none of it and he immediately sent Lafreniere back to the locker room with a 10 minute misconduct, meaning that Lafreniere won't be able to return until nearly half of the second period has expired.

Definitely a very questionable decision considering how important the next few games are for the New York Rangers, but now the they must continue to get back into this game as they will head into the third period trailing 3-1.
