It was at 10:11 of the second period when Zibanejad took a shot from the point which was heading quite wide which ended up hitting Trocheck in the chest. He quickly then shoveled the puck into the net but then skated off to the dressing room in pain.
New York Rangers Announcers joked about Mika Zibanejad after Goal
The announcers we're pleased with the goal but were funny to point out that Zibanejad's shot was going quite far to the right and would have missed the net completely if it did not hit Trocheck.
The Rangers ended up winning the game by a close score of 2-1 which has put the team on a two game-winning streak and is now back to .500 hockey with a record of 20-20-2 for 42 points.
This has been a stark turn around as the team had sunk to an all time low in the first half of the season after starting out of the gate with a 12-4-0 record.
Peter Laviolette Continues to Push Rangers Players with Good Results
With their recent play, it has taken a little pressure off head coach Peter Laviolette who continues to work with his group and trying to string as many wins as they can in hopes of recovering the season.
It seems the Rangers have turned somewhat of a corner and is currently looking to make up in their second-half of the season.
