The New York Rangers have assigned goaltender Dylan Garand to the Hartford Wolf Pack, the team announced Saturday.
Garand, who was recalled by the Rangers on Thursday, was optioned back ahead of the Wolf Pack's game on Saturday night.
Facing off against the Hershey Bears, the Wolf Pack ended up losing Game 2 of the series 4-2 and will now have to win the next three if they hope to keep their season alive.
Garand has been of the Wolf Pack's best playoff performers, posting a 5-3 record to go along with a 2.53 GAA and a .924 SV%.
While Garand's numbers during the regular season were a slight improvement over last year's numbers, he has been a different version of himself in the playoffs.
In eight games during the 2022-23 playoffs, Garand posted a 5-3 record to go along with a 1.76 GAA and a .935 SV%.
As a second year pro, Garand has had his ups and downs but the Rangers have to be happy that he plays his best hockey when it matters most.
