New England Patriots Running Back Talks Loyalty, Possible Rushing Records

The New England Patriots have made it a habit this offseason to pay their best football players the kind of contracts they deserve.

One of those players was running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who is going into his fourth season in the league. Stevenson signed a 4-year deal to keep him in New England for the long-term worth up to $36 million.

When Kay Adams of Up and Adams asked Stevenson on Monday about the new contract and what it means to him, the star back couldn't help but crack a big, wide smile.

"Just to know all my hard work really since I was 7 years old just paid off. Knowing my teammates believe in me, the GM, the coaching staff, everyone believes in me and it just gives me that much more confidence," Stevenson said, adding that loyalty is the reason why he did not wait to try to get more in free agency elsewhere. "I love Boston, I fell in love with it, they gave me a chance and drafted me...I believe in loyalty and I think it was a bit of that."

Stevenson would go on to address the possibility that he could become the franchise's all-time leading rusher, something he is just roughly 3,200 yards shy of.

"That was actually being thought about before I signed, one of the points I made to my agent and Coach Mayo," he said. "I wanna be here. I love Boston, and I wanna be the all-time leading rusher here. I think I can do it because Mayo thinks I can do it so it's just all about getting it done."
