Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City hasn’t been on the air very long. However, it’s been getting glowing reviews from fans who were skeptical of a season without the main protagonist from the last time they saw the ladies. Now, Monica Garcia is speaking out about what she regrets from her time on the show, how the cast surprised her, and what it would take for her to return.
As a reminder, Monica was a fan favorite in season four of RHOSLC. She trended on social media each week, she seemed grounded and relatable to some, and no one can forget the finale that saw Heather Gay exposing her for being behind the infamous troll account. However, despite being a part of a ground-breaking season finale, Monica was not asked back for season five, making her among the most iconic one-season wonders of all time.
Recently, Monica sat down for an interview with US Weekly to discuss her most recent stint on House of Villains. Of course, the topic of RHOSLC came up, and Monica had quite a bit to say. First, she discussed what she would change if she could. In particular, it concerns her spreading rumors about Angie Katsanevas‘s husband being gay.
She says, “I don’t regret that at all. But maybe how I did it, I could have done it differently.”
Monica then went on to discuss not being invited back to the show and how it surprised her that the cast had so much sway over casting decisions.
“That was beyond frustrating because I didn’t think that they had that kind of power to make that kind of stand. I kind of thought, ‘This is your job. You either come and do your job or you don’t, you film with the cast or you don’t.’ I didn’t think it was like they had that much control or say over casting, who they got to film with and not film with, especially that cast.”
Monica goes on, “And I mean that with all the shade in the world. They’re not NeNe Leakes, they’re not anything like that. So, it just kind of blew my mind that they had that kind of power.”
Of course, the fandom has been divided over this. Many understand the fact that the cast didn’t want to film with Monica after what she did. However, others are in agreement with her and feel that they should do what’s best for the show.
