Mike Sullivan stuns fans as he issues a very passionate statement on returning to the New York Rangers

The newest Head Coach of the New York Rangers has arrived. Mike Sullivan, who has won two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins and coached Team USA during the Four Nations Face-Off, has a new home in 2025-2026 and held his first official press conference today.Mike Sullivan

Mike Sullivan is the new bench boss in town and is already in awe of his surroundings. During his press conference, he mentioned how electric Madison Square Garden was during games.
Sullivan believes it's truly a privilege to be there and experience the excitement no matter what side of the puck you're on.
The Rangers have some of the most diehard fans in the NHL, and have supported them through thick and thin.

Though, we're hoping Sullivan can alleviate the more than 30+ year gap between Stanley Cups, as the last time they won one, Mark Messier wore a Rangers uniform.
There was speculation that Sullivan would choose to return home and coach the Boston Bruins. A team where his son-in-law, Charlie McAvoy, plays, and where he's from, Massachusetts.
Instead, he's opted to help turn the New Yok Rangers back into the powerhouse they should be.
"I have spoken to every player on the roster over the last three days,'' Sullivan said Thursday at his introductory news conference. "I think there is a fair amount of leadership in that room. There's a lot of character in that room."

His statements today, including the quote above, sound like someone whose experience in turning teams into winners.
Sullivan replaces fired Head Coach Peter Laviolette who rejoins the NHL's coaching carousel.
Only a season removed from a Presidents' Trophy win in 2023-2024.
