With the trade of Chris Kreider, the destruction of the BFF line in New York had begun. With recent reports by The Athletic's Arthur Staple, GM Chris Drury is intent on finishing the job and sending Mika Zibanejad elsewhere.![Mika Zibanejad]()
Mika Zibanejad seemed like he would be untradeable, but for GM Chris Drury, nothing is impossible or immutable. We've seen him bypass NTC in the past, in sketchy methods to further his goals.
Now, after putting the fear of god into the Rangers locker room, it seems like he may have made some headway with Mika Zibanejad.
Zibanejad has a full no-movement clause and a cap hit of $8.5 million AAV. Zibanejad being traded would be the nail in the coffin of the old Rangers status quo, as they've made it far but have been unable to win a Stanley Cup.
Now with Drury trading Kreider, he could be next, as reports from Arthur Staple state that he and the team may have worked out a deal which sends him to a contender.
Which ones?
Well, like the New York Rangers, it's the Toronto Maple Leafs who were pushed out of the playoffs this season by the Florida Panthers.
The irony is too rich for you, right?
Anyways, it seems like this has been months of planning are taking shape as the Rangers, as they now are being dismantled for parts, in order to build a new look team.
No word on whether Zibanejad will be traded now or later during free agency. This season, he scored a total of 62 points (20-42) and was shifted up and down the lineup due to his inconsistency this year.
