Metropolitan Division Rivalry is Softened by a Viral Moment Involving Rangers Star Goalie Igor Shesterkin

The New York Rangers have a fierce rivalry with the Washington Capitals, but in Russia, during the "Ovi Cup," all bets are off. A fun moment was captured during the exhibition when Alex Ovechkin's 6-year-old son scored on $92 million goalie, Igor Shesterkin, twice.Igor Shesterkin and Aex Ovechkin's son

In a fun viral moment during an exhibition match in Russia, the "Ovi-Cup," as it's called, had a segment which featured Igor Shesterkin and Sergei Ovechkin.
Sergei would show us all that he's learned from his legend of a father, Ovi, as he put the skills to use scoring on Igor Shesterkin twice.

We know Igor is an elite goalie in the NHL, but he'd let it slide in order to humor Sergei and give everyone in the audience a good show.
Unlike Sergei, Alex Ovechkin has been a terror when it comes to the Rangers his entire career.
In 76 games against the Rangers, he's scored 46 goals, with the majority coming against Henrik Lundqvist, followed by Alexander Georgiev, Cam Talbot, Keith Kinkaid, and Steve Valequette.
Unlike the rest, Igor has been able to hold Ovechkin off to only five goals against him in their first meeting in 2021.
Sergei has a quick start on Ovi, and will have to score three more to think of eclipsing him.

Offseason Fun A Reminder To Relax

The scene we saw between Sergei Ovechkin reminds us all that we need to take a break and have fun.
The meeting between the two superstars in their homeland gave us a great video clip, and hopefully, a sign that Igor Shesterkin will return to the New York Rangers ready to face the challenges of 2025-26.
