Melissa & Joe Spent Their Weekend Cheering on Their Sons at Football: "Friday Night Lights"

Melissa Gorga and Joe Gorga have redefined date nights and their weekends since becoming parents to two teenage sons. The Real Housewives of New Jersey couple are now more likely to be seen in the bleachers at their sons' football games than seen out on the town during a romantic date night out.

How to Watch

But they don't seem to mind that at all, especially since both boys — 13-year-old son Joey Gorga and 17-year-old son, Gino Gorga — are playing on the field. Melissa took to her Instagram Story over the weekend, where she gave a glimpse into their lives as football parents. The mom of three showed off the football field at nighttime, glowing underneath the stadium lights. "Friday night lights," she wrote over the photo.

Although it's unclear if Melissa was taking a picture of Joey or Gino, she and Joe appeared to be proud to root on the team. The couple then turned the camera on themselves, taking a selfie from the bleachers, and smiling for the camera. Melissa chose to caption the photo by tagging Joe and adding a photo of a football.

But there is no time for rest in the Gorga household. By Saturday morning, the boys were back on the field again, and Melissa was back in the bleachers cheering them on. She took to her Instagram Story that next day where she posted a photo of Joey on the football field.

"Saturday morning," she wrote over the picture, adding the words "touch down" beside it. Go Joey, go!

Melissa Gorga talks about Gino & Joey's experience playing high school football
However, during a recent episode of her podcast, On Display with Melissa Gorga, she revealed that her sons are having vastly different experiences playing football in high school. In the episode, which was co-hosted by Joe, Melissa said that she feels like both boys are "having two totally different experiences."

"Does it bother you at all Joe?" she asked. "Because it bothers me a little bit."

Melissa revealed that Joey is having an "amazing" season so far as a freshman. However, Gino, who is a junior, isn't getting as much playtime. "And it's not because one's better than the other. It's truly not," she explained. "It's because of the lineup and how it goes and who played here in the eighth grade and who didn't."

"Joey played football in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade in town (Franklin Lakes), so coaches had their eye on him," she continued. "Gino was moved here during his freshman year, so the coaches didn't get to see him play in junior high...We feel like [Gino] isn't getting as much playtime or as much of a fair shot at Joey."

Although Joey's football experience has been more positive than Gino's, Joe pointed out that Gino has been excelling in wrestling. "They're both doing two different things and they're both great at them," he said. "I respect that. I love that."
