Melissa Gorga clapped back at Kathy Wakile’s version of events surrounding their secret lunch. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star slammed Kathy for “act[ing] like I was lying,” and she hinted at how the meeting went.
For several seasons on the show, Melissa and Joe were close with Kathy and her husband, Rich Wakile. But when Melissa reconciled with her sister-in-law Teresa Giudice, who was already feuding with the Wakiles, Melissa and Joe seemingly took a turn, and their relationship with the couple eventually ended.
Recently, Melissa shared that she moved onto the same street as the Wakiles, and she expressed interest in reconciling. But Kathy later explained in an interview that she and Melissa had already had lunch and cleared the air.
On her On Display podcast, Melissa addressed Kathy’s story.
“For anyone who doesn’t know, Kathy went out there and told the whole story of how we sat together [and] had lunch,” said Melissa. “We had a whole conversation, and then [she] tried to act like I was lying on other podcasts, not being honest and not telling people that we had this lunch together.”
“When really all I was doing was respecting Kathy’s exact, very precise wishes,” continued the star, hinting that Kathy asked her not to publicly discuss it. “I’m the one that called the meeting. I’m the one that reached out to her. So I wanted to respect whatever she wanted to do.”
Despite their recent drama, Melissa claimed their lunch was “actually … nice,” and they “talked a lot.”
In an April 23 interview for SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio, Kathy recalled Melissa’s past reconciliation with Teresa.
“[Melissa at that time] was just like, ‘Stop. You have to stop talking about my sister-in-law.’ Meanwhile, I’ve been listening to you complain about your sister-in-law for like 10 years,” said Kathy. “It was just strange … There must’ve been an interior conversation between them, ‘Let’s reconcile, push her out.’”
“Was it that they were making an alliance to stay on the show? ‘This is the only way you’re gonna stay on the show is if you take my side and push Kathy out,’” she hinted. “We were like, boom, going from speaking every single day multiple times to nothing at all, and it was like … sell-out.”
