There’s a whole lot of Black excellence in this room! A few of the Married to Medicine cast members just spent some time with none other than Vice President Kamala Harris.
Dr. Heavenly Kimes, Dr. Simone Whitmore, and Dr. Jackie Walters traveled to Washington to participate in an event to raise awareness for reproductive rights. It’s pretty iconic, so let’s go ahead and add this to the list of reasons why M2M is one of the best shows on Bravo.
Doctors in the White House
At the White House, Bravo superfan Chrissy Teigen moderated a conversation with VP Harris, the doctors, and other advocates about the threatening legislation targeting women’s reproductive health. The M2M cast were invited to lend their expertise and star power to the cause.
Of course, this isn’t the first time VP Harris has partnered with the M2M cast. Last year, Dr. Jackie did a virtual interview with her to discuss the maternal health crisis. They’re practically besties at this point. It probably also helps that they’re both in the same sorority!
During their visit to the capital, the M2M stars spoke to The Grio about the importance of having open discussions about reproductive rights — especially during an election year. Dr. Simone said that they wanted to remind everyone how much their votes would impact this issue in the future.
“We all need to get more involved … You don’t realize how much the lack of voting impacts your women’s health and your women’s rights. I’m just blown away,” Dr. Jackie explained. “As OBGYNs, we see women all day … every day, and we keep saying we want to be a part of the change that we want to see.”
Dr. Heavenly added, “It’s amazing to see our Vice-President, the first Black woman, the first woman period, to really understand what women go through and take this on … I think that’s big.”
