Yao also filed for divorce from Beasley in 2020 after he was seen cozying up to Larsa Pippen
Montana Yao has filed for divorce from her husband, Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley.
Yao, 27, filed for legal separation from the NBA player, 28, in Los Angeles court on Tuesday, March 4, just one day before their fifth wedding anniversary, according to records obtained and reviewed by PEOPLE.
The internet model, who shares two children with Beasley, cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split, per the documents.
The former couple met in 2018 and married on March 5, 2020. This is the second time that Yao has filed for divorce from Beasley.
In December 2020, Yao filed for divorce amid the couple's drama with Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa Pippen. Yao called out her husband after he was spotted cozying up to Pippen, 50.
When the images were first published in Nov. 2020, Yao said she had no idea her husband was out with Pippen. "Wow… I don't even know this man…" Yao wrote on her Instagram Stories on Dec. 1, 2020. "This is wild y'all I'm seeing it for the first time just like y'all."
Pippen then appeared to address the controversy by sharing a quote to her Instagram Stories that read, "Don't always trust what you see on social media." It continued: "Even salt looks like sugar."
A couple weeks later, Yao said she was booted from their family's home amid the scandal with Pippen. Yao wrote on her Instagram Stories, "We were told to leave our family home 10 days ago and just like you all I'm pretty confused."
The couple later reconciled. In May 2021, Beasley shared a public apology to Yao on Instagram, apologizing for putting Yao in that "situation" and said his head wasn't where "it was supposed to be" when he had a fling with Pippen. "I was looking for more when it was right here that whole time.. I'm telling the world and you that there's no body like you for me," he wrote.
"For the record I was the one who ended my last relationship off the fact that there is no one like you," the NBA player added. Addressing his apology on her Instagram Stories at the time, Yao said that she and the couple's son, Makai, 2, "appreciate Malik's apology."
The two also share a daughter born in November 2022.
