EXCLUSIVE: Beth Kelly and Teejay Halkias left things on a bitter note after the bride pulled the plug on their marriage, right before Married At First Sight Final Vows.
"I don't want to stand there, put on another dress like I did on my wedding day... for you to just reject me again," Beth said at the time.
But Teejay wanted to make things right.
In an exclusive interview with 9Entertainment, Teejay, 29, revealed that he tried to reconnect with Beth after the series wrapped, by "reaching out".
"I tried to reach out and make sure she was doing OK, I know that she was pretty upset during the show," he began.
Teejay said out of the two, he reached out first. Eventually they caught up.
"She wanted to chat about a few things so we had a chat and that was that," he explained. "We had a long conversation, it was good."
The groom clarified that things "were fine" between the pair after filming, but admitted he'd hate to not have her part of his life.
As for where they stand now?
It was a burning question for fans as fellow bride Awhina Rutene shared a clip this week of the co-stars hanging out.
"Do Teejay and Beth still talk?" one fan asked Awhina during her Instagram Q&A.
Awhina shared a clip of Beth and Teejay, while not sitting together, hanging out in a group setting.
"Things are obviously platonic between Beth and I," Teejay explained. "It won't be anything romantic... but amicable."
"If we see each other out we'll speak to each other and whatnot but I wouldn't say we're best friends," he laughed.
As for co-stars he has remained friends with, Teejay reacted to Jamie and Eliot's rumoured romance.
"Yeah it was definitely a surprise," he said of their connection.
"Jamie and Eliot aren't the two I would've picked together, realistically post-show," he said.
"But I think they're just having fun, hanging out. Whatever works, works, we can't get in the way of happiness can we?"
When it comes to Teejay's love live, the groom admitted he's been on a few dates since the series finished airing.
"I wouldn't say I'm actively looking for anything right now," he confirmed. "I'm letting what will be, will be.
"If it happens, that's great because I am 29 and I'd love to start creating that foundation with someone. And if it's not meant to be, then that's that."
Beth and Teejay hit it off on their wedding day but by the later weeks of the experiment Beth felt the relationship was one-sided, citing a lack of attraction and affection from the groom.
Beth's confidence took a hit when Teejay wrote 'leave' while she wanted to 'stay' at the final Commitment Ceremony, and things completely fizzled out when both of them decided to go on a date with someone else during the Final Task.
As they moved out of the apartments Beth pulled Teejay aside to tell him she wouldn't be going to Final Vows.
Teejay agreed, but it was a frosty end to a relationship that they both hoped would've ended on better terms.
