Former Love Island USA star Hannah Smith has been charged with making terroristic threats following her arrest last autumn.
The TV star, who appeared on the hit reality show in 2024, was arrested in September following an incident at the Roxy in Atlanta, Cobb County, Georgia. Prosecutors accused Smith, 27, of making terroristic threats and wilful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, according to court documents.
Smith was escorted out of a Gracie Abrams concert last year for disorderly conduct. She had attempted to push and kick police officer Kayla Winkfield while she was trying to escort her into an Uber.
The new documents, obtained by TMZ, allege Smith, originally from Concord, North Carolina, broke the law when she attempted to assault police officer Kayla Winkfield. Prosecutors also claim Smith verbally threatened to kill the officer during the outburst on September 30.
An arrest warrant obtained by the Daily Mail revealed Smith was thrown out into the car park of the arena where the concert was being held at around 11:30 p.m. after being disorderly. A policewoman then tried to get her into an Uber outside the venue, the warrant stated.
However, Smith allegedly tried to punch her, which led to the reality TV star being handcuffed as she repeatedly tried to kick the officer. The warrant details that "as she was being escorted away from the Orange Deck parking structure and to her Uber," the arresting officer noted, "she attempted to punch me, with a closed fist, however, she did not make contact with me. While in handcuffs, she also attempted to kick me multiple times."
Following her arrest, while being transported in the police vehicle, Smith is reported to have threatened to kill the officer and her sister on several occasions. The official document stated, "While said accused was being transported to Cobb County Adult Detention Center she stated she was going to kill me and my sister multiple times with the purpose of terrorizing said victim."
Cobb County Police charged Smith with making terroristic threats and wilful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, both felonies. Securing her release on a $8,000 bond the next day, she has been instructed to abstain from alcohol or drug use unless it's medically prescribed, a rule to be ensured by "random alcohol/drug tests at her own expense", state the court records.
In a statement to TMZ, reality star's attorney Mike Hawkins advised, "Shortly thereafter she has no memory of the events that occurred during, or after the concert. Hannah is deeply troubled by these events. She regrets any actions she took that offended anyone, including law enforcement."
