Love Island star Alex Bowen has opened up about a major regret in his marriage with wife Olivia Bowen.
The couple, who found love on the 2016 series of the hit ITV show, have built a strong relationship over the years, tying the knot in 2018 and now expecting their second child. However, Alex recently admitted that not everything has been perfect in their journey together.
The 33-year-old confessed that one of his biggest regrets was a decision he made early on in their relationship - getting a tattoo on reality show Just Tattoo of Us. The MTV series, known for its shocking ink reveals, saw Alex and Olivia choose tattoos for each other without knowing what they were getting. But for Alex, it’s a decision he has come to regret, and he has since started the process of getting it removed.
Reflecting on his time on Love Island, Alex seems well aware of the good and bad sides of reality TV. “I just wanted a tan and a laugh. I didn’t even know much about Love Island,” he admits.
“But afterwards, you have to be careful what you say yes to. I did MTV show Just Tattoo Of Us [where couples choose a new tattoo for their other half without them seeing]. I got a tattoo that I’m now getting removed.” But thanks to Love Island, I met my wife, I have Abel and another one on the way. That’s the best part of it.”
While he didn’t specify which design he was erasing, it’s clear the impulsive decision wasn’t one he’d make again. Despite this minor regret, Alex and Olivia have continued to build a life together that many Love Island couples could only dream of. They became parents in 2022 when they welcomed their son Abel, and are now preparing to expand their family with the arrival of their baby girl.
Their relationship has had its challenges, especially with the pressures of fame, parenting, and running their businesses - Alex with his fitness coaching brand, Pure 45, and Olivia with her interior design ventures. However, they remain dedicated to keeping the spark alive. “You’ve just got to try and pretend you’re still getting to know each other,” Alex explained. “Even if it’s just watching a movie together, it’s about making time for yourselves.”
The pair have since grown from strength to strength as the pair recently announced they are expecting their second child - a baby girl. The Love Island couple shared a sweet video on social media announcing the exciting news. "A moment, a love," they wrote. "Baby no2 - we’re waiting for you." The duo, who met on the ITV2 programme, already share son Abel.
The clip shared on January 6 started with Olivia showing Alex the positive pregnancy test as he relaxed on the sofa. She also filmed Abel rocking a red sweatshirt with the words ' Big Brother 2025' embroidered on the back. Another touching moment saw the family rocking matching pyjamas in front of the Christmas tree as they held up the baby scans.
