LOVE Island's Scott van-der-Sluis has revealed he pulled out of this year's All Stars after enjoying secret dates with an ex-Islander.
Scott, 24, opened up about why he opted out of the show during an appearance on Lochan Nowacki’s YouTube cooking show.
The footballer told his former co-star that he initially considered joining but ultimately decided against it.
He said: "I was in a moment where I was like, 'Right, yeah, I could do this, but if at any point I don't feel like it at all or something, I don't feel like it.'"
While he didn’t confirm who he had been seeing, Scott did reveal that he had been on dates with a previous Love Island contestant.
Lochan had teased: "A little birdy tells me you went on a date with a previous Islander."
To which Scott joked: "Nah, whoever told you that's lying."
Scott did talk about his close friendship with fellow Islander Luca Bish, however, revealing that they became mates after connecting over a football project in the U.S.
He said: "So we've been close for like a year now. It was weird because it actually came around the time of the last All Stars. Yeah. And he texted me on Insta, he was like, not fancy doing this one, no."
Scott clarified that while they were both considering the All Stars opportunity, he had been hesitant at first.
He added: "I was like, 'Nah, nah, can't be bothered with this one.'
"There was going to be some football project innit… I don't know whether he was good at football… but he played semi-pro anyway, so we were going to do some football project out in America and I wanted him on board, so we spoke on the phone.
He continued: "And then we just ended up, we spoke on the phone, we were on the phone for like an hour. And then we just became mates of it, like text quite a bit, like rang quite a bit."
As All Stars approached, the two continued to talk about whether they would join.
Scott said: "And then towards the end of the year, once All Stars was coming out, like obviously we spoke to each other about whether we were going to do it or not.
And I sort of persuaded him in a way to do it."
Scott confirmed last month that he had pulled out of the latest run of All Stars with just two days to go.
Speaking on Whitney Adebayo’s podcast What’s It Giving, Scott revealed all on his near stint on the ITV2 series.
He said: “Well, we are referring to All Stars obviously, I just didn't feel like it was the right time, you know when you know."
He continued: “Did I feel like it was the right time to walk in that Villa? Personally, no."
Scott then discussed the elephant in the room - his ex Catherine Agbaje Obviou is in the villa.
"Obviously everyone's got an opinion about the situation and Catherine being in the Villa," he began, cautiously.
Host Whitney then asked: “If you were in there who would you have coupled up with?”
Scott replied: “Obviously me and Cat (Catherine) if we were put in that situation again, then you never know what could happen.
“But I feel like if we were put in that situation again and it didn't work and I went a different way, I feel like I just I would just get hated for it.”
He also went on to admit that his age had a big part to play in why he didn’t enter on this year’s show.
He said: “I'm 24 and a lot of the girls in there they're in their 30s, mid-30s, and when the cast was announced, there were conversations about me doing it. I was like, 'I'm 24. these are in the mid-thirties.'
“It's giving Love Island Old Stars.”
The star rose to fame on the tenth season of the dating show and quickly followed it up with two more stints on other editions of the programme.
On his first appearance on the show he was coupled up with Catherine.
But, after a brutal Casa Amor recoupling Catherine recoupled with singleton Elom instead, leaving Scott single.
Scott eventually recoupled with Abi Moores but was dumped from the Island a week before the final.
Mere weeks after being dumped from the villa the first-time around, Scott took part in Love Island USA before also going on to compete on the spin-off Love Island Games just weeks after that.
It saw Scott compete in three seasons of the programme within six months but since then he has stayed away from the franchise.
