Lisa Barlow is being shaded on Instagram after admitting that she loves to wear real fur despite the controversy surrounding the inhumane fabrication of the garb.
As she made headlines for losing yet another pricey ring at New York Fashion Week earlier this month, the 49-year-old Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member was labeled “cruel” and “shallow,” among other things, for her allegiance to fur.
“I’m always a fur girl. I know it’s so controversial, but I love wearing fur,” Lisa admitted to Us Weekly at the Daily Front Row’s 11th Annual Fashion Media Awards on September 6. “I think if you really do your homework, you’ll see if they’re made sustainably.”
“It’s, like, major for you to wear that as opposed to faux fur,” she added.
While Lisa claimed that fur is made sustainably, no one was impressed with her comments, and many accused her of being “soulless” and “gross.”
“Guess who [else] likes wearing furs? The animals that were killed AND SKINNED,” one person stated.
“Saying ‘I AM soulless and heartless with zero conscience,'” added another.
A third suggested that Lisa’s statements were pure “ignorance.”
“Controversial ??? Let’s try cruel, and unnecessary,” wrote someone else. Another person said to show Lisa “videos of them skinning animals alive and see if that changes her tune.”
As another IG user said she was “cruel [and] shallow,” an additional person said, “Fur hags have no conscience.”
In other RHOSLC news, Lisa lost a $100,000 ring while attending an afterparty for designer Sergio Hudson at Hearsay.
“Having this be her first NYFW, it didn’t start with a sparkling start. She was certainly sad,” a source told Page Six on September 9. “Lisa’s always cold, so her rings are [always] falling off!”
According to the report, Lisa was dancing near the DJ booth when her ring “flew from her hand.” And the club “was so dark and pumping that it was impossible to find.”
They couldn’t do a “deep dive search” because the venue was so crowded, the insider added.
Luckily, while Lisa, who lost a $60,000 ring at an airport amid season four, left without her $100,000 ring, the bling was returned to her on Monday.
“Sergio’s partner found it later in the evening — not far from his table — and got it. He returned it safely to her [on Monday] at the hotel. It was perfect!” the source confirmed.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season five premieres Wednesday, September 18, at 9/8c on Bravo.
