The Detroit Lions have been reluctant to spend this offseason, but were named a potential suitor for a wide receiver who has earned a spot in the Pro Bowl six times in his career.
The Detroit Lions have been pretty cautious through the first few weeks of free agency.
Their only really splashy move was signing D.J. Reed to a deal worth $16 million per year.
That has left them as one of the four teams in the NFL with more than $40 million in remaining cap space for 2025.
All of this cap space could give them some leeway to make some moves in the later stages of free agency.

One of those moves could even include a wide receiver who has earned a place in the Pro Bowl six times in his career.
In an article discussing landing spots for some of the top remaining free agents, Pro Football and Sports Network's Kyle Soppe named the Lions as a potential suitor for former Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen.
At the NFL owners meeting, Dan Campbell said that he wanted the Lions to get some younger competition in at wide receiver.
Signing Allen certainly wouldn't align with the directive.
He will turn 33 later this month.
Allen is also coming off of a bit of a disappointing season as he made just 70 catches for 744 yards in 2024.
That was a pretty big drop off from his 2023 season where he made 108 catches for 1243 yards in 13 games.
Part of that drop off can be attributed to a tough rookie season from Caleb Williams, but it's still concerning because of Allen's age.
However, he would definitely be an upgrade over Tim Patrick and would give the league's best offense from 2024 another weapon for the 2025 season.
This would absolutely be a luxury move for the Lions and seems unlikely with the way GM Brad Holmes has spent, but Allen could be an interesting addition for the Lions if they're willing to throw some money around in free agency.
