Lindsay Hubbard and Turner Kufe Clashed Over Being Public

Batula spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about the real issues behind Hubbard and Kufe’s split, pointing to a clash over how public their relationship—and their daughter—should be.

“I don’t think Turner had to be front and center,” Batula said. “But I think Lindsay still wanted to put herself out there publicly, and he wanted to keep things, especially their daughter, more private.”

At the “Summer House” reunion, Hubbard confirmed that the pair had decided to press pause on their romantic relationship, saying, “As of right this second, I think there’s a lot for us to figure out when it comes to parenting, coparenting, my lifestyle, me being public, him being private. It’s too much at once.”

Batula elaborated, “Once they had the baby too, I think the biggest issue at that point wasn’t that Turner was private. It was that he also wanted Gemma to be private, and they sort of disagreed on that.”

Hubbard echoed the sentiment during the reunion, adding, “It’s a struggle. Dad is private, mom is public. What does that make baby? It’s hard. Being public, you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube. I’m still Lindsay from ‘Summer House.’”

Batula said she sympathized with Hubbard’s frustration: “I could understand how big of a struggle that was for Lindsay to not be able to share so much of her life with her fans—especially the exciting part.”

Reflecting on her own experience, Batula added, “When I started dating Kyle, I wanted to show him off because I was proud of him. Lindsay is not leaving our TV screens anytime. Even if she breaks into the house, she will make her way onto our TV screens. She’s definitely gonna be there—but Gemma should not come because Kyle’s music and antics are not as safe for babies.”

Unseen ‘Summer House’ Clips Reveal New Insight Into Hubbard and Kuffe’s Relationship

In a “Summer House: Under the Covers” episode that aired June 11, never-before-seen footage gave more insight into Hubbard and Kufe’s relationship before it unraveled.

In one scene, Hubbard spoke to Kyle Cooke about the pregnancy and said she and Kufe had discussed it beforehand. Cooke asked, “Were you just rolling the dice?” Hubbard replied, “We were being as safe as you can be without a condom.” She then confirmed they had the pregnancy talk ahead of time: “We did!”

Cooke responded, “I’m happy that you guys had that talk before, instead of having that talk for the first time after getting pregnant.”

In another clip, Hubbard told Gabby Prescod that she found out she was pregnant while on a solo trip to Mexico in April 2024.

“I was terrified,” she admitted. “We’d only been dating since January. Now, here we are, three months later, and I’m finding out I’m pregnant!”

When Prescod asked how Kufe reacted, Hubbard smiled and said, “We were just both on board. We’re just so happy.”

Despite their early optimism, the couple’s differing views on privacy and parenthood eventually drove them apart. As Hubbard told viewers, “It’s too much at once.”
