The Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins have combined for a late night trade involving Lars Eller, which had left the hockey community shocked.

The Capitals and Penguins have both confirmed that the trade and been completed and finalized between the two teams and ultimately it has shocked the hockey community.
The trade itself is not what is the most shocking part of this situation, but the fact that Penguins GM Kyle Dubas only just recently revealed that everyone is on the trade block, and then immediately after he wasted no time and made a trade.
The official trade is sending forward Lars Eller back to his former team the Washington Capitals where he won the Stanley Cup back in 2017-18.
Full details: the Pittsburgh Penguins are getting two draft picks, Washington's third-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft, and a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft that was originally the Chicago Blackhawks.
