The Las Vegas Raiders are looking to work their way back into contention in the AFC. A huge step in the right direction has already been taken this offseason with the hire of new head coach Pete Carroll.
Now, the work begins on improving the roster for Carroll.
With that in mind, there are a lot of areas that the Raiders could upgrade. One of those areas comes at the wide receiver position.
Could Las Vegas get involved in the trade discussions for Seattle Seahawks star wideout DK Metcalf following the trade request that he has made? It certainly could be possible.
Sam Westmoreland of The Big Lead has suggested that the Raiders could be a top landing spot for Metcalf.
"Carroll and Metcalf have history; the former Seahawks coach worked with him up until this season," Westmoreland wrote. "He knows what the 27-year-old wideout can do for an offense with even a mid-level quarterback at the helm. While we don't know who the Raiders' quarterback will be next season, giving them a weapon like Metcalf to work with from the jump would go a long way towards maximizing their chances for success."
Metcalf would be a big-time get for Las Vegas. He would give them the No. 1 wideout that the Raiders will need for whoever ends up being their starting quarterback.
During the 2024 NFL season with the Seahawks, Metcalf played in 15 games, catching 66 passes for 992 yards and five touchdowns.
Of course, the quarterback situation is another question that Las Vegas needs to answer. After their decision to release veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew, Aidan O'Connell is the current starter on the projected depth chart.
More than likely, the Raiders will make a move to bring in a new starter. It would be very surprising to see them head into the 2025 season with O'Connell as their starter. Whomever is the starter, a move for Metcalf would help the offense in a big way.
