Larsa Pippen’s boyfriend Jeff Coby has her kids’ stamp of approval.

The Real Housewives of Miami star, 50, recently sat down with PEOPLE to offer an update on her relationship with the 31-year-old basketball player, whom she met at the beginning of the year. After revealing that her four children urged her to break up with ex Marcus Jordan in March 2024, Pippen says their dynamic with Coby is completely different.

“They have the best relationship,” she shares. “They play board games. They love to hang out. They talk basketball.”

“We talk to my son, Scotty [Jr.], after every game, and we go through what happened during the game,” she adds of her son, who followed in his NBA star father Scottie Pippen’s footsteps and now plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. “I feel like [Coby’s] very normal, and him around my family is just an easy place for us.”

Larsa says she has continued to see sides of Coby that she was looking for in a partner.

Raving that Coby “has all the qualities that I really love,” Larsa explains that it was important for her to find someone who prioritizes his loved ones like she does.

“The other day I FaceTimed him when he was at his parents' house, and he was teaching his niece how to multiply, and I thought, that is so sweet,” she raves. “That's why this is my guy, because he's just so family-oriented and just so kind, and I just feel like he's my guy.”

Larsa emphasizes the importance of her kids’ opinions on her relationships.

Despite her on-and-off relationship with her ex, Larsa says she cut ties with Jordan for good because of her kids.

“It wasn't one thing,” she admits. “We broke up a few times, and my kids knew that the situation was not going to work itself out. It was not the right situation for me, and I think once my kids saw it — I knew it, but it was hard for me to admit it — and I think once I had that conversation with my kids and they were just like, ‘It's done,’ then I was like, ‘Okay.’ These are my children. They understand what's going on.”

“I think I was going to break up with him anyway,” she adds. “It just made it easier when someone literally puts it in your face and they're like, ‘I don't think you can be with this person anymore.’”

Because that split was so public, the television personality says that she initially wanted to keep her relationship with Coby private to avoid finding herself in a similar situation.

“I didn't want to share it with the world, but now I'm in a place where we get along really well,” she explains. “We basically do everything together, and so now we're more open. But I think the first few months, I feel like we were together every day and just did very normal things, and nobody even knew that we were together.”
