Lara Teases “Quite A Lot” of Upcoming Drama on Below Deck: “Going to See That Explode”

Below Deck Down Under’s Chief Stew Lara Rigby has her eyes on the horizon, and it won’t all be smooth sailing.

How to Watch

Watch Below Deck Down Under on Mondays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up Bravo.
The Cornish yacht manager recently spoke with Bravo’s The Daily Dish about all of the season's ups and downs, from unacceptable rule-breaking to Below Deck firsts, and it sounds like the drama will only continue in Seychelles as Season 3 reaches its finale.

With only three episodes left, Lara explained “definitely a lot of drama” is still to come.

“There’s a lot of tension building up in the next couple of episodes,” Lara teased. “You’re going to see that explode. Just be ready because it’s quite a lot.”

So much has already happened in the yachting season, including previous clashes between Lara and Bosun Wihan Du Toit over managerial duties, conflict with Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph, and Captain Jason Chambers firing two crewmembers.

But, like any good mariner knows, taking to sea means always being on one’s toes.

“Get ready,” she cautioned fans for what’s to come. “Be ready.”

Despite it all, Lara said she has “great friendships” with her castmates since the cameras stopped rolling.

“Obviously, I’ve had my differences with some of the cast members, but, you know, ultimately, we’re all adults, and I think we could all be in a room together and say hi and everything like that,” Lara told The Daily Dish. “But, yeah, we catch up a lot with the team, and we have some good giggles and laughs about what we’ve just seen on TV.”

As for Lara's next steps, she is about to embark on a “crazy busy” season, doing what she does best alongside Below Deck Mediterranean Chef Jono.

She is also in the “long process” of building a house in Cornwall when not out to sea.

“It’s an old barn,” Lara revealed. “It’s about 200 years old, so there’s a lot we have to do.”

While the rebuild might be quite the undertaking, the headstrong chief stew is determined to see the project through. When asked about the home’s structure and what must be done, she said, “Everything.”

“Once it started — basically, you have to come down because it wasn’t stable enough to, like, add another level on top,” Lara said. “So, it’s been a bigger project than I thought, but I’m determined to get it done.”

Lara hoped the reconstruction would be ready by the end of the year, and she said she looked forward to a house party once completed. She admitted it was hard because of her work, which keeps her away for long periods of time.

But would the house take her away from the sea for good?

“The yachting industry has been my life, so it’s very hard to imagine not doing it,” she said. “But I definitely want to stay within the industry and maybe even more like [an] owner’s rep kind of style.”

It may be stormy times ahead in the final episodes of Below Deck Down Under — available to watch on Bravo and Peacock — but as for her professional life offscreen, Lara has high hopes.

“There’s lots of opportunities that are going to come my way, through my job,” she said. “I’m excited to see what’s next.”
