While appearing on the April 7 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the chief stew also revealed if she thought Marina's comment was a fireable offense.
"I mean, it was very rude, and I would not talk to my captain like that," Lara admitted. "So, yeah, I was very shocked."
What did Marina Marcondes de Barros say to Captain Jason Chambers?
When the charter guests arrived on Season 3, Episode 9, Jason tried to help Marina take the guests' luggage to their rooms. While Jason wanted to bring all of the luggage up to the next floor (where all of the rooms are), Marina wanted to label the bags first.
"It's your decision, Cap," she relented. She explained her point of view in an interview on the episode.
"It would be nice to manage one thing without being questioned," she said. "I know how to do housekeeping, so why would you come and ruin my system? Do not touch it."
Later on in the episode, Jason and Marina found themselves in the galley. As Jason picked up a snack, he said, "You see what happens when I get no digestives?"
"What? You get cranky and you start micromanaging everybody?" Marina responded.
"I don't micromanage anyone," Captain Jason told Marina. "But, if you can't manage yourself, that's where I gotta step in. Don't talk to me like that again."
"Never again," Marina agreed. "Never again, I'm sorry."
How did Captain Jason Chambers feel about Marina Marcondes de Barros' comment?
On Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 10, Jason had Marina come to the bridge to discuss what she said to him. "You made a comment back to me," he said. "What's going on?"
"I overstepped a hundred percent [over] the line," she replied. "And I'm so sorry for that."
Jason said it was "not a big deal," but he wondered if there was anything else going on to cause Marina to lash out.
Marina then explained that the deeper issue is that she hasn't been put on service since the charter season began. "In our department, I was taking one for the team like, 'I'll be in housekeeping for the whole season, it's OK.' I don't want to overwhelm her," she said. "But, yeah, I love service to death. I just was a little hopeful I was gonna be there again. I just didn't want to push it because I said it and Lara took it very defensive[ly]."
Jason agreed that Marina didn't approach the situation with Lara in the best way, but he encouraged her to continue to stand up for herself.
"Look, out of every crew member, I want to see some growth. You're doing a very solid job. You're very strong. My advice to you is cohesion with the chief stewardess," he said. "Be the right hand person."
As the conversation concluded, Marina felt like Jason could be "a mentor" to her.
"He sees how hard I've been working and putting myself into the job," she said in an interview on the episode. "It is really nice to not be getting fired as well, by the way."
