Lala Kent and her 3-year-old daughter Ocean Kent Emmett have been on quite the hair journey together. After the little one cut her own hair in November 2024, the Vanderpump Rules mom has been trying to make things right since then (more on that later).
More recently, Lala took to her Instagram Stories to share how she was trying to style her toddler's tresess after the snips and re-shaping the pair have done over the past few months. "The bangs are starting to grow, but then she hits me with the 'I don't want bangs anymore. Make them go away," Lala wrote over an impossibly cute photo of Ocean.
In the photo, Ocean, wearing an adorable Frozen-themed outfit, stood in front of a floor-length mirror with her short brown hair cut complete with wispy bangs. We thought the haircut looked so cute, but apparently, Ocean wasn't having it.
In a second image, Lala appeared to have crafted Ocean's hair into a pulled-back updo, sweeping her bangs off her face.
"She told me she might like her bangs when they 'grow just a bit mama,'" Lala wrote over the photo of Ocean flashing the sweetest smile. "Sorry, O," the mom of two added.
Additionally, Lala gave us an up-close view of how she styled Ocean's hair into two pigtails, pulling back the bangs to connect to the pigtails secured with elastic.
"So me, a woman who can't do hair for s--t as you all know, had to figure it out," Lala added.
It appears the West Coast mom did, indeed, figure it all out, and from what we can see, it worked out quite nicely.
Lala Kent's hair journey with Ocean
So, this whole hair roller coaster began in November 2024 when Lala revealed via her Instagram Stories that Ocean cut her own hair with tiny nail scissors when Lala wasn't looking.
Following the incident, Lala shared in January that she tried to cut Ocean's hair herself but was not pleased with the results.
"Guys...I think I just f--ked up," Lala wrote over the snapshot comparing Ocean's new look to Jim Carrey's Dumb and Dumber character who sports a bowl cut chop. Eek!
The next day, Lala shared more on Amazon Live about the whole debacle.
"She has the finest hair in the world, and it's curly," Lala explained. "And she sleeps like I do, so she wakes up with a rat's nest and everyone knows, you have to have a fresh trim so the split ends don't catch each other."
All the same, Lala noted that these mistakes may just need to be made with the oldest child.
"Here's the thing, you guys, Ocean no matter what, she's going to be the guinea pig child because that's what the first one is," she said. "You don't know what you're doing, you make mistakes, you're like you know what? Next time I'm going to do better with that...But Ocean is so tough, and I love that no matter what, that girl is so confident."
