Kyle Richards is opening up about having a very tough time while filming The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14.
“That scene in particular, walking off. I just don’t feel like I was myself, and I don’t feel like I was strong enough,” Richards, 55, exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of the RHOBH premiere on Tuesday, November 19. “Honestly, to be shooting the show at that time, I just really needed the woman to kind of be there for me and support me. And obviously I didn’t feel that at all, so it just magnified my situation.”
While filming the Bravo reality series, Richards was fresh off her split from Mauricio Umansky. The pair announced their separation after nearly three decades of marriage in July 2023. They have yet to file for divorce.
Richards added that in addition to the out of character moment of her walking off set, she’s also “nervous” to watch some things she shared about herself and fellow costars in her confessionals.
“You know, when you’re talking about conflict with other women and you’re upset in the moment, you say things,” she continued. “And now we’ve prepared things, and now you got to go back and relive that, and it just kicks all those feelings back up again so that I’m not looking forward to it.”
While Richards is regretful over her actions and words, she’s owning up to her mistakes.
“I’m sure I’ve said things I wish I hadn’t said, or commented on things I shouldn’t have, but we don’t have that luxury doing what we do,” she said. “I regret walking out that day. I regret not being in a stronger place and just holding my head high and saying what I needed from them instead of crumbling.”
Richards, who is the only remaining OG cast member on RHOBH, admitted that her season 14 outburst was the first one she’s had during her Housewives tenure.
“It’s the first time that’s happened to me in 14 years. I’ve never called in sick. I’ve never not shown up to shoot,” she reflected. “I just needed a break, and … I just can’t do this, and I had to let them know I can’t shoot.”
As Richards contemplated if the Bravo series was still in the cards for her, she is grateful that the cast and crew gave her “grace” so she could focus on her wellbeing.
“It helped me to reflect and rest and think about coming back, and what that means, or versus not,” she admitted. “And needless to say, I showed up after taking some time off.”
Fans got a first look at Richards’ tumultuous season last month when the official RHOBH trailer dropped. In the clip, Richards declared she was “done” with the show and the cast before walking out of their event.
“I had a meltdown. My first in 14 years. I was like, ‘I don’t think I can physically do this anymore,'” she told Us in her October cover story after being named Us Weekly’s Reality Star of the Year. “I walked off the set and didn’t shoot the next day. I was at my breaking point. I have so much on my plate, and some of the women just push.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14 premieres on Bravo Tuesday, November 19, at 8 p.m. ET.
