THE Philadelphia Eagles have gotten promising news concerning a Pro Bowl star who wants to sign with the reigning Super Bowl champion squad.
The Eagles will look to repeat after beating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 in February.
Free agent safety Justin Simmons appeared on FanDuel TV's Up & Adams as he looks to sign with a team for the 2025 season.
The two-time Pro Bowler made his intentions clear that he wouldn't mind becoming an Eagle.
"Going to Philly with Vic, you know exactly what you're getting out of me," Simmons said last week.
Simmons referred to Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who coached him during the 2019-21 seasons with the Denver Broncos.
He mentioned the Eagles but also the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals, saying it would be special to join one of the franchises.
The 31-year-old didn't include the Kansas City Chiefs, noting that his time in Denver made Patrick Mahomes and company an enemy of his.
"I want to be the team that beats them," Simmons said of the Chiefs.
He also didn't rule out returning to the Atlanta Falcons, a team he played with in the 2024 season.
But Simmons has maintained wanting to join a contender, as the Falcons are coming off an 8-9 season and haven't made the playoffs since 2017.
During his nine-season NFL career, he has started 124 of his 134 games, posting 32 interceptions - the fourth-most among active players.
Simmons played eight of his nine seasons with the Broncos.
He has also recorded 71 passes defended, 4.5 sacks, and 666 total tackles.
Last season, Simmons logged 62 tackles, seven passes defended, and two interceptions.
But last year, it took him until mid-August to sign a deal, a timeline he won't be looking to attempt this time around.
"That's always the goal," Simmons said about finding a fit earlier than in 2024.
"I think yes, there's pros and cons to training camp.
"... We'll see. I want to go to the best situation, and I want to go to a team that's gonna win.
"So, we'll see what that looks like."
The Eagles would be a fit for Simmons since the team unexpectedly shipped C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans last month.
Whoever replaces Gardner-Johnson will be paired with Reed Blackenship.
