Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore paid off a five-figure tax bill weeks before she broke her silence about her controversial exit from the Bravo show, In Touch can exclusively report.

According to official records obtained by In Touch, on September 16, 2024, Fulton County in Georgia released a lien that it filed against Kenya, 53, in early 2024.

The ‘Fieri Facias’ filed against Kenya accused her of owing $14,139.55 in taxes, plus interest of $562 for a grand total of $14,711.80 that remained unpaid for the year 2023.

The document was filed against Kenya’s five-bedroom, six-bathroom, 6,500 square-foot home in Sandy Spring, Georgia.

She purchased the home for $515,000 back in 2015 and completely renovated the pad. The bill wasn’t the first time Kenya experienced issues paying her tax debt.

Back in 2018, the reality star was hit with a $150,000 tax lien over her 2016 tax bill. The lien was released several months after being filed.

Back in June 2024, Page Six reported that Kenya had been suspended by RHOA producers after an incident involving her new costar, Brittany Eady.

Kenya was accused of showing explicit photos of her costar at a cast event. At the time, Kenya wrote, “Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. The truth always comes to light.”

She added, “I would never engage in revenge porn, I have never distributed private images or footage of anyone, nor solicited images owned by others to use to threaten or blackmail. I have always been vindicated. I can’t talk about STORY even with people planting fake news #sweet16.”

Brittany wrote on social media, “It’s never a good feeling being targeted or HAZED by someone I thought would embrace me into a new circle, that I never met.”

“For the record,” she added, “I’ve never once had possession of any weapons or threatened anyone ever. I’ve never been to jail, in fight, or even had as much as a speeding ticket. That’s not my character. I am hurt by the narrative that’s being displayed. Wrong is wrong.”

Kenya spoke to Tamron Hall about what led to her departure. Kenya said that a new cast member came on to the show was “poking” her. She believed it was all in an attempt to make a name for herself. Kenya said, “The young lady escalated to the point of tearing off mics, screaming all kind of obscenities at me and threatening me.”

Kenya said the cast member made threats towards her and she felt concerned. “I don’t take threats or the way that I felt — you can’t invalidate my feelings,” Kenya told Tamron.

“It was a real concern for me. I’m a single mom with a beautiful child that if anything happened to me, no one would be there for her,” she continued.

Kenya explained, “I didn’t feel like I was being protected and I took matters into my own hands. I did my research on her. I found a lot of information, especially in the explicit world, with a few clicks with people helping me.”

“If I could do it all over again — I believe the photos were very distasteful and I elevated the situation,” Kenya said. “I’m taking full accountability for the thing that I’ve done. I am sorry for what I’ve done. I didn’t have to take it that far. But when I felt threatened, I never had a child and be in a situation like this before, so that’s why I escalated it to the point where I was protecting not only myself but my child.”
