RHOBH staple Kathy Hilton recently spoke out about her sister Kim Richards, who was reportedly placed on a psychiatric hold following a substance abuse relapse.
“We love her, and we support her, and that’s all I can say,” Kathy Hilton told PEOPLE on Saturday.
When asked if Kim was doing better, the RHOBH star replied, “Yes, I think in the world there’s always hope.”
Sources tell PEOPLE that Kim is in “a really bad place,” and her family is unsure of how to handle her recent relapse.
“The family are very private about details, but from the little they’ve said, it’s clear they’ve reached another breaking point with her,” an insider said, adding, “This has happened before.”
The source also shared that Kim’s battle with alcohol abuse “has been an ongoing source of conflict” with her family, especially with her younger sister, Kyle Richards, who is sober.
“It particularly weighs heavily on Kyle, who has always been the worrier of the family,” the insider continued, explaining that Kyle doesn’t know if she’s “helping” or “enabling” Kim.
As previously reported, Kim Richards is experiencing a case of tough love from her family after the actress-turned-reality TV star fell off the wagon yet again.
Kim’s life continues to spiral out of control after she was placed on a psychiatric hold earlier last month,
In September, law enforcement showed up at one of Kyle Richards‘ Los Angeles homes after a neighbor called to have Kim removed from the property. The neighbors were reportedly concerned about Kim’s behavior.
Kyle told law enforcement that she did not want Kim in the house as the family had cut off all contact in hopes it would push her to get sober again.
Cops told Kyle the issue was a civil matter, and she would have to file an eviction action to remove Kim from the property. Kim currently remains in the house.
The RHOBH star also told police that Kim is “in deep trouble over her sobriety, and the family is worried about her survival.”
Earlier last month, Kim was placed on a 5150 psychiartic hold after acting incoherent at a Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and refusing to leave the property.
Kim Richards starred on RHOBH from season 1 to 5 alongside Kyle, who infamously outed her addiction to alcohol during the season one finale. The Bravo alum, who attempted various stints in rehab, some successful and some not, was previously arrested in 2015 following a drunken rampage at The Beverly Hills Hotel.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is expected to return for season 14 in late 2024 or early 2025.
