What began as a marketing campaign in order to bring the MLB to Raleigh, North Carolina, may end up backfiring in the Carolina Hurricanes' face. As K'Andre Miller joins a team that may begin the season in turmoil, if the Montreal Canadiens have anything to say about it.
The Carolina Hurricanes may start the season under fire, as a branding choice for a local MLB campaign could yield serious issues for the team.
In order to bring an MLB expansion team to Raleigh, NC, the Carolina Hurricanes have teamed up with the campaign to make it a reality. In order to do so, the team may have put a blemish on a past that has been storied and defined by iconic logos, dating back to the Hartford Whalers.
Now, the team's newest collaboration has some serious issues, as the hat looks like an obvious reference to the original-six NHL team, the Montreal Canadiens.

Montreal Canadiens fans were quick to let them know the kind of mistake the team had made.
The logo does indeed look almost identical to Canadiens branding we've seen in the past, and could be cause for concern for Tom Dundon and the Carolina Hurricanes.
While the attempts to distinguish themselves using the Carolina Hurricanes flags inside the logo itself may be a failed attempt to seem unique.
Considering the team has only been around for three decades, they should be worrying about hiring a consultant before launching an obvious breach of copyright law with these "retro" hats.
While it remains unknown whether or not the Montreal Canadiens will pursue legal action, the campaign in and of itself wasn't well thought out or planned as it seems.
