Judge Approves NeNe Leakes’ Bank Account Being Garnished Over $25k Debt

It’s a bad day to be NeNe Leakes‘ accountant. Allegedly, the former Real Housewives of Atlanta will have $25,000 garnished from her bank account to cover a legal debt. That’s some serious change— especially for someone who hasn’t held a full-time job in several years.

The latest blow to NeNe’s lifestyle arrived via a company called MPG-Sugarloaf. It’s a cutesy name for a not-so-cute situation.

Remember when NeNe had that store called Swagg Boutique? Back in 2017, MPG-Sugarloaf leased a commercial property to NeNe for the business. Swagg Boutique seemed successful for a while, but they didn’t survive the coronavirus pandemic. They permanently shut their doors in 2022. Then, the following year, MPG-Sugarloaf sued NeNe, saying she owed them $22,000 in unpaid rent.

When the courts served NeNe with legal papers, she immediately blamed the mishap on her late husband, Gregg Leakes. She wrote on social media, “Gregg signed the lease not me! He ain’t here.”

That excuse did not hold up in court, and according to a report from In Touch, it’s all starting to catch up with her. In November 2023, a default judgment was entered against NeNe for $25,631, and the landlord immediately began looking for ways to source that money.

According to recent court docs, a judge in Georgia just signed off on a request to seize those funds from NeNe’s account at Truist Bank. Coincidentally, that’s the same financial institution that’s been desperately trying to foreclose on Kim Zolciak’s house. You know those bankers must be sick of dealing with the ladies from Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Throughout this case, NeNe has been surprisingly absent from all of the legal proceedings. Even at the most recent ruling, NeNe did not show up to the court hearing, despite the five-figure sum being garnished from her bank account. It’s an unfortunate ending for NeNe and Swagg Boutique, which at one point, seemed like it could have been a big success.
