Things have gotten bad enough for the Las Vegas Raiders in recent seasons that many in NFL circles believe star defensive end Maxx Crosby should be traded in exchange for a mountain of picks. Jon Gruden, Crosby's former head coach and currently a Barstool Sports employee, asked Crosby about those rumors on the latest episode of his podcast "Gruden Goes Long".
"So all these rumors I'm hearing about you getting traded, man ...is there any truth to this?" Gruden asked.
Crosby then explained the root of all the drama before shutting down the notion that he wanted out of Las Vegas.
"I have no control of it," said Crosby. "I just show up, I go to work, I do what I do."
The Raiders have had their share of issues on the field over the years, but having a star defensive end has not been one of them. Gruden drafted Crosby in 2019 and despite the radical coaching changes that the franchise has endured, he has remained a Raider for his entire career.
While the team has not been incredibly successful during his tenure, he has been paid handsomely by the franchise and has enjoyed a plethora of individual accolades. Crosby, being the competitive player that he is, would trade all of his individual success for a championship.
"For me, all that matters is that I want a chance to win, you know what I mean?" said Crosby. "I want to have an opportunity to win a Super Bowl."
It may be a bit longer until the Las Vegas Raiders are competing for a championship, but with new head coach Pete Carroll, that turnaround could happen sooner rather than later. If the team trades Crosby, however, then it'll be back to square one for the Silver and Black.
