Joe Bradley revealed that he was involved in getting Jarrett “JT” Thomas a job on “Southern Charm.”
The “Southern Hospitality” star spoke out about his five-year friendship with Thomas in a March 2025 interview with Decider, revealing that he referred his pal to the Bravo reality show.
“JT watched me start bar-backing at Republic,” Bradley told the outlet. “He watched me start Southern Hospitality.’ And then, you know, two years later, they’re calling me and my friends, and they’re like, ‘Who do you think would be a good fit for ‘Southern Charm?’ And I’m like, ‘I know this crazy guy named Jarrett Thomas.'”
Thomas joined the cast of “Southern Charm” for seasons 9 and 10. He had a difficult time during his second, and possibly last, season. While filming season 10, OG cast member Craig Conover accused Thomas of calling “Southern Charm” grand dame Patricia Altschul a derogatory term. Thomas also became embroiled in an ill-fated flirtatious relationship with co-star Venita Aspen.
JT Thomas Resigned From ‘Southern Charm’ Before Season 10 Aired on Bravo
In November 20204, Thomas posted to Instagram to announce his resignation from “Southern Charm.” The news came weeks before the season 10 premiere and before Thomas completed all of his confessionals for the season.
“I informed Bravo that I will not be participating in the 2-3 remaining green room interviews remaining before [season 10] airs,” Thomas wrote at the time. “I no longer wish to participate any ways moving forward with the TV show.”
Thomas added, “I will leave it at that for now while I work on next steps to recover both physically and mentally from what has been an extremely challenging & exhausting year.”
In a March 2025 Q&A posted to YouTube. Thomas apologized for his sudden exit from the show and revealed that he did return to tape the season 10 reunion with his former cast mates. He also didn’t rule out a potential return to the series for season 11.
“I think right now it’s let’s finish this season and one day at a time,” he said. “It’s like beautiful people in beautiful places and it’s like you’re doing cool stuff, and it would be so hard to like not continue and keep trying to grow, you know. So, let’s finish this season and let’s see what happens.”
Thomas’ friend Bradley told Decider he is “rooting” for him as a newcomer on the long-running show that has featured its main cast members since 2014.
“I think it’s hard for him,” Bradley said. “Like, we all started our show [‘Southern Hospitality] with equal footing. And I think it’s hard. Like those guys on ‘Southern Charm,’ I actually love all of them. [But] they’re pretty intimidating. Not only as a group, but they’re all like 6’5” too.”
Another ‘Southern Charm’ Star is Close With the ‘Southern Hospitality’ Cast
Thomas isn’t the only “Southern Charm” star with connections to the “Southern Hospitality” cast. His onetime crush Taylor Ann Green is close with several people from the Republic crew.
During a March 4 appearance on the “Viall Files” podcast, Green admitted that it would make more sense for her to join the Bravo spinoff than remaining on “Southern Charm” with her ex, Shep Rose.
“Southern Hospitality,’ that would make more sense because I do actually hang out with those people,” she told podcast host Nick Viall. “Those are people I’ve known for a very long time even before they started ‘Southern Hospitality.’ I knew TJ [Dinch] and Brad [Carter] and Emmy [Sharrett} and Will [Kulp] and all of them so it would make more sense.”
