The Dallas Cowboys have seen it all during this 2024 NFL season. Owner and GM Jerry Jones not doing enough in the offseason has shown its ugly side. Their current record has placed them drafting 11th next season, where some have them taking Boise State star running back Ashton Jeanty.
But Jones had the chance to sign another stud running back in Derrick Henry. The star is based out in Texas and was hoping to get a call from the Cowboys. But it never came, and he ended up signing with the Baltimore Ravens.
That mistake showed early in the season when Henry himself showed the league the easiest way to beat the Cowboys. It also showed America’s Team what they were missing as the lack of a run game thwarted their offense on many an occasion.
But Jerry Jones can do it right if he makes the right decision next April. Ashton Jeanty is the frontrunner for the Heisman trophy after a stellar season so far. With his play already visible to many, the star running while on Kicking it with Dee made his opinion clear where he wants to play.

If anything, he wants to play at home, which means, it has to be the Dallas Cowboys. Although the Houston Texans are also in the same state, he made his opinion clear with his last words. If anything, this should be music to Jones’ ears.

As he is forced to throw more passes, it not only puts his teammates under more pressure but also opposition defenses are better equipped to thwart them. The result, a 3-6 record after multiple instances of their offense breaking down.
Ashton Jeanty’s running style, contributions in the passing game, have helped Boise State to an 8-1 record. If he can even deliver 70% of what he does for the Dallas Cowboys, they could be a completely different threat.
As then, defenses will have to scheme for him too. Leaving the likes of CeeDee Lamb and other receiving less attention and could contribute more. Jerry Jones should see his open invitation as an opportunity. As he will not only get an otherworldly running back, but in the future, hometown discounts can favor his side.
