Jerry Jones is in the midst of a transitional phase for his Dallas Cowboys. He hopes Dak Prescott and the offense work out their nuances and deliver their best next season. He also hopes to see the defense led by Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs perform at their best.
Only when both those phases of a football game along with the special teams perform will ‘America’s Team’ be successful. Jones has done his part to take care of most of the offense’s problems from last season.
On the business side, the contract extension of Parsons has been a stalemate so far. The pass rusher wants to become the highest paid non-QB in the league. But Jones’ reactions so far suggest he is ‘least concerned’ with what his best player wants.
The 82-year-old’s comments gave the indication that when it comes to money, his relationship with the only player to have his personal number is at best professional. Keeping a note of this, reporters hounded Micah Parsons at training camp earlier today, and he had some choice words to say:
At the end of the day, they’re signing checks like always. Let’s see if they want me to be here at the end of the day… Some teams like Maxx knew were coming up, and they took care of them. Must be nice… My agent’s been reaching out, and at one point another grown man has to be willing to reach out himself.

In the video captured by Cowboys’ writer Clarence Hill Jr., it seems the 26-year-old is using words to clap back at Jerry Jones in the most subtle way possible. Bringing in Maxx Crosby‘s extension as an example was probably a way to counter what the billionaire has been saying off late.

Micah Parsons reiterated that Jerry Jones does not have a problem handing out deals to his players. But in his situation, he placed the blame squarely on the team owner. Trevon Diggs was with the pass rusher all throughout and reiterated that Parsons deserves to be paid accordingly.
After talking about having patience, the two talked about making it to camp as a way of sending a message to Jones that they are not walking out on their teammates. Nick Harris then asked Diggs if he expected to be docked $500K.

It seems Jerry Jones’ actions are having a detrimental effect on two of his most important defensive players. Parsons added that Diggs was right to rehab away from the Cowboys facilities with a team that just brought his brother, Stefon Diggs, back from an ACL tear in record time.

Trevon Diggs lost $500K from his base salary after he rehabbed in Miami. The Dallas Cowboys wanted him to be at their facilities. Since he was not, they took the decision to mildly ‘punish’ him for his actions. But the cornerback had something to say about this situation on X.

From this message, it seems the Dallas Cowboys were not happy with this arrangement. They have set aside $97 million for Diggs and probably wanted to protect their investment at all costs. There are two sides to the argument, but the player in question feels the team has undermined him.
