The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills friend explained what made her realize she "never" wanted children.
Jennifer Tilly is opening up about her decision to not have children.
On the February 27 episode of Sherri Shepherd's talk show, Sherri, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills friend talked about numerous topics. In one segment, Sherri brought up Jennifer "making the choice to be childless," wondering about what was behind her decision.
In response, Jennifer, who was married to television producer and The Simpsons co-creator, Sam Simon, from 1984 to 1991, clarified her position. She shared, "I never ever wanted kids, and had sort of not a really great childhood and I felt like, 'Well, maybe I'll make the same mistakes my mother did.' I could see myself making those mistakes and I was like, you know what, sometimes I make bad choices and I didn't want to put my kids through that."
Jennifer continued by noting what came up for her while she was dating someone who wanted kids. "I thought, 'Ooh, I could never let this person be the father of my child,'" she shared.
She then added: "There is such a thing as a biological clock. I always had it for my career like, 'Oh, I'm not getting famous fast enough.' But there is a biological clock, and when I got to be about 37 I would dream I was running through these darkened rooms and they were all crawling with babies and they were grabbing hold of me, like, 'Mommy, mommy, we want to be born!' I [slapped] them down, like, 'Out of my way! I'm late for the Oscars.'"
Jennifer further shared that her "contribution to the world" is the Chucky movies. "I don't dream about having a baby that's gonna be the next president or discover the cure to some incurable disease," Jennifer quipped. "I dream about people coming to visit my grave and leaving little Chucky dolls on my grave."
Jennifer Tilly opens up more about not wanting to have children
In The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show clip above, Jennifer discussed the topic of not having children further with Garcelle Beauvais and Sutton Stracke. When the ladies were discussing their families, Garcelle wondered if Jennifer "ever wanted to become a mom."
"Never," Jennifer promptly replied, echoing the aforementioned logic above about why she chose to not have kids.
"We had such a not a very good childhood and, you know, everyone's like, 'I'll be the perfect mom, I won't make the same mistakes my mother did,' but I had a feeling that I would," she shared, causing Garcelle to say, "Wow. I've never heard anybody say that. You're amazing."
"Hell, I don't know," Jennifer responded.
"But you can actually say, 'I don't know if I would have been better,'" Garcelle clarified.
"No, I don't think so," Jennifer stated. "I mean, hopefully I would be better, but, yeah, I never really wanted children. And now my sister had a bunch, so I have nieces and nephews, so that's really nice."

Jennifer is currently dating professional poker player, Phil Laak. Jennifer and Phil have been in a relationship for over 20 years. "I've been with my man for 20 years. I would say he's my type," the actress said separately about her boyfriend. "He's a poker player. He just sort of likes to shuffle around in his pajamas and mutter about, you know, things going on in the world."
