The Yankees will be without Jazz Chisholm Jr. for a while, as the team announced Friday that the second baseman was placed on the 10-day IL with a right oblique strain.
The move is retroactive to Wednesday, after Chisholm suffered the injury on a swing against Baltimore on Tuesday and was removed later in the game following a dive into third.
Jorbit Vivas was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Chisholm’s spot on the roster.
Chisholm was hoping to avoid an IL stint, preferring to just miss a few games, but he underwent an MRI on Thursday and the Yankees opted to be cautious with the injury.
Pablo Reyes started at second in Wednesday’s loss to the Orioles.
